Dr. Michelle Harrison is a licensed professional counselor and, as Assistant Professor at Colorado Christian University, is the Subject Matter Expert for the Practicum and Internship courses for counselors-in-training. Over the last 10 years, Dr. Harrison's diverse experiences in direct service, education, training, and advocacy offer insights into service provision, survivor empowerment, emerging trends related to trafficking, and the delivery of qualified trauma-informed training.
As a recognized content expert and advocate for human trafficking, Dr. Harrison has presented extensively at national and state conferences, including numerous Sheltered Conferences (now presented by Atlas Free) and the JUST Conference, on topics such as trauma-informed care, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma, dissociation, healthy sexuality and relationships, and empowering counselors in the fight against human trafficking. She has also contributed to publications on human trafficking, including in the context of schools and for special populations. Additionally, Dr. Harrison peer reviews manuscripts for The Journal of Human Trafficking.
